Kathy Gentry

 Kathy is a native of McDowell County, growing up in Davy and living in Welch since 1982.  Before SHED, Kathy worked in the education field as teacher, counselor and administrator for thirty-two years in many schools throughout McDowell County, retiring in 2011. These years of experience gave her the opportunity to meet and work with families on all income levels and needs in life.

Kathy was an active member of the SAFE and SHED Board of Directors from 1996 until becoming the Executive Director of SHED in 2012.

The experiences garnered with McDowell County Schools and being on the board of directors were brought to her position at SHED where she continues to help people grow within themselves and to become successful citizens.

Having a place to call home, whether it is a house or an apartment, provides stability.

Kathy strives to support SHED’s mission to provide housing for a better quality of life.
